Gulak did a nice job stepping up and becoming the face of 205live in the wake of the departures of Alexander, Ali and Murphy. He also shifted his in ring work and has become a more compelling wrestler as a result of his move to more of a striker than just relying on submissions. He's been very consistent without having too many high end matches (I'd probably look to his matches with Lorcan, Kushida and Riddle as his best of the year), but he's wrestled at a very high level almost every time he's been on my screens.

The choice between Gulak and Bryan for best WWE guy comes down to whether the credit/blame for reactions goes to the wrestlers or the crowds. Since I blame basically everything (Brexit, Star Wars Episode IX, Sleater-Kinney dumping their drummer) on WWE crowds, I'll opt for Gulak. His title run was remarkably consistent, with the Lorcan series a highlight. But even his nothing matches from early in the year were filled with the kind of ideas Gabe's crowds are starved for these days. He was rewarded with a promotion to main roster job guy, though the only way he'll be top ten again next year is if he returns to 205 Undead.
