Wanted to make a catch all thread just to post random WWE thoughts as I watch the TV.
I think Smackdown Live might be back, baby.
Loved the amount of time given to the tag division to start the show. Usos absolutely work as these tweeter characters out to prove they're the best, they know they're the best, and they'll do anything to stay the best. But if you go to war with them, they'll respect you. Hyped for the match with American Beta.
Kevin Owens is an evil fucking man who thinks he's right and might actually be a good person. And the Sami Zayn stuff was great. Although Sami was so over the top that I do wonder if the end game is a Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens match at Wrestlemania.
Shaking.
Try and catch the Orton/Nakamura vs Rusev/English tag match from tonight's Smackdown Live. That match ruled and is the type of thing we've been missing from TV lately. Love random tag matches with top guys just needing to fill time because their programs are done and the next PPV is over a month away.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT HARPER & ROWAN SEGMENT?!?
AJ STYLES --- also back. My favorite AJ Styles is the one who bumps all over the place to try and "make" someone. And that was something missing from the Owens program. KO didn't need "made".
Great two hours of TV and I'm hyped to find that Jinder/Roode/Ziggler Dark match on YouTube.

I do think that WWE will have a hard time having one of their shows be bad for long. There's just too much talent. Even though I don't care about Jinder or Bobby Roode or Carmella, SD will have the Usos, Styles, and Owens/Zayn. And Rusev! You can't stay away for long. I didn't love that Zayn promo, but the crowd didn't seem very invested either, which may have been the issue. HATE the renewed Harper/Rowan gimmick. Not that it's cheesy or anything; I mean its basically just War Machine's gimmick, just that Harper is once again saddled into a tag team. He was getting top babyface level reactions in some of his matches this year! I refuse to think they can't find a place for him when Ziggler, Jinder, and Aiden English are still on TV almost every week (not a shot at the quality of those guys, more of their previous card placement).
I do feel alone on this, but did anyone else not love how the Shield reunion was handled? Certain moments were great, but I almost wish they had just pulled the trigger earlier in the year as a surprise. Imagine if Ambrose and Rollins came out through the crowd during the Summerslam main event while Roman was getting beat down.

I liked the Shield stuff to start the show. Didn't care much for the Braun beatdown. There's almost a fine line they have to tread here. The Sheild's babyface run literally only ran about two months. The rest was full blown heel stuff with a couple of months of tweener action/dropped Ambrose splitting off storytelling.
I think what really happened here was Braun got HOT. THE GUY, if you will. And once he got fed to Brock (which I don't inherently have issues with; would much rather have long term stories than week to week making it up) they ran into a problem of having nowhere for him to go and nothing for him to do. WHICH WOULD BE BAD. So, you stick him in that Shield TLC match which sort of didn't need him. But, once again, what else were you going to do with him short of going to Smackdown?
The TLC match will be great and Cesaro will probably take the pinfall (and honestly who cares about that?). And then we start the build for Survivor Series.
Sort of hoping for The Shield vs The New Day in a battle for brand supremacy!

I think they're in a good place where TLC basically only needs the main event and Asuka's debut. You can sort of coast through the rest of the show and it'll be fine. I've been trying to get away from fantasy booking too far in the future with WWE because there's too many moving parts to try to predict. But I don't see any Mania plan that doesn't involve Cena/Braun and Reigns/Brock, so you basically just have to keep all those guys warm for three more months. The rest of the Raw card is a bit more complicated.

I am actually very excited for harper and rowan, I think they will be the ones who attack the fashion police and I think if thats what they wind up doing it is a good place to start to build these two up I don't really get using Fashion Files, which became the best part of Smackdown week after week, to build up a team promptly to lose and never be seen again. I get there's a ceiling on the Fashion Police act, but both guys are good workers and have gotten over time and time again with their insane gimmicks. Give them the ball and let them run with it for once.

Oh I agree I'd be fine with them not doing the stuff with the fashion police, but I feel this the direction they are going.

Yeah Shield/New Day is all I've wanted for Survivor Series ever since I saw the Shield was reuniting.

Currently figuring out how a KO & Sami vs Rollins & Ambrose match can work right now.

I am absolutely dying for Shield/New Day. Either that, or Big E going after Jinder and getting the rocket strapped, is what they need to do with New Day right now.

Yeah, if they really do want to separate Usos and New Day for a bit, have them chase some singles success while remaining a team.

The lack of general enthusiasm (this small bubble of wrestling hardcores aside) for WWE this year always seems to fall away given NXT Takeovers. I'm still a little worried about the WarGames match, it's definitely the type of huge thing that could fall apart if not done perfectly. But the rest of the card is pretty stacked. Ohno finally getting a singles match, so you know he'll work hard, even if he has to carry Lars a bit. The women's match is going to rule. Almas is finally in a big big spot. Plus even when the lineups aren't great on paper, the Takeover shows always deliver (sure helps that they are a lot shorter than the average PPV).
