Okay, so...
-Ballots of 50 & 25 are eligible. I honestly like the idea of being able to submit ballots larger than 50 but it'd be really really indulgent. Worst comes to worst, we'll expand the final count for "officially" ranked wrestlers to something like 75 and even 100 given interest.
-Scoring will be based on the Honestly Iconic LaPrade System but modified as how the scoring for this year's 100 was.
-In order to not clog up the forum and because nomination threads aren't really how this works anyway, we'll do promotion-based threads. WWF gets one, AJPW gets one, WCW gets one, et cetera. Smaller groups will be consolidated together. If you want to make a specific starting post for a wrestler, it'll be linked in the first post in each thread.
-Deadline is July 31, 2018. Plenty of time, I think.
-Everything else is the same.

Excited for this. Thank you for setting it up! Fired up to go way too high on Rob Van Dam and Chris Candido.

As long as someone wants to submit a ballot they can go way too high on HHH as far as I care.

I'm really interested in doing this because i don't know jack about a lot of older stuff and this seems like a good way to familiarize myself with it
what promotions should i try to find stuff from aside from the obvious wwf/wcw/ecw/njpw/ajpw?

FMW had a huge '98. There's a lot of good joshi around (AJW/ARSION/GAEA/LLPW, J'd even), certainly a good amount of lucha and European stuff online. BattlARTS/RINGS if you like shoot stuff. Stuff from Big Japan/IWA Japan can be found without looking THAT hard. IWA Mid-South had some entertaining stuff. OMEGA should be findable. Just totally off of the top of my head.
For everyone: if you get into the project and find good resources, please share.

I unironically think that Buff could make my top 100 if we were doing '97.

Buff was underrated, little doubt about that. Even in his teams with Scorpio and Patriot I liked him.

Still a lot I need to watch, but thinking that my list will end up being a race between Kobashi and Jun.

Hell yes, super-stoked to have you on board. Stuff like your ARSION & Muga uploads are crucial.

I'll try to upload stuff here and there, but since I moved to a new place with shitty internet, don't expect a bulk upload. My channel also got zapped when I tried uploading Fukuda/Masada, so that's a bummer. I recommend if you have some cash consider to drop it for a full show. Or use torrents or whatever. Wrestling in 1998 was a blast, like "Holy shit every match on this IWA Japan show is actually good and made me want to seek out more of all these workers"
SOME GENERAL THOUGHTS ON 1998 AFTER INITIAL VIEWING MADNESS:
- ARSION is highly likely to be my promotion of the year. Clever booking, innovative style, CHARACTERS~!, and plenty of good wrestling between all that. Also, Mariko Yoshida being the greatest, along with underrated workers such as Reggie Bennett, Rie Tamada, Mikiko Futagami and so on.
- BattlARTS produced lotsa quality stuff because GOD DAMN these BattlARTS dudes are WORKHORSES!,but kinda shot themselves in the foot with the booking bringing in dudes like Backlund or Valentine for crowd pleasing spots. It didn't even do that great business for them AFAIK.
- Besides that, Yuki Ishikawa was quietly building his case as darkhorse WOTY having good/great matches pretty much whenever he stepped in a ring. I saw him carry Yone Genjin to a good match. YONE GENJIN.
- only 2 discs of MUGA are available, but it all rules. The full show with the Fukuda/Masada main event (actual main event was Fujinami vs. Shinichi Nakano, which did not air... DAMN YOU Samurai TV editors!!) is like a highlight reel of cool 1998 japan indy wrestling minus the gory sleaze brawls. Obviously Fujinami, Ishikawa & Nishimura were killing it, but I was surprised how great Fukuda has looked.
- Your japanese cult heroes Hashimoto, Tenryu & Fujinami were still bringing it on a major scale in 1998. Likely that all 3 will finish in the top 10 when all is said & done. Can shitty NJPW booking prevent Hashimoto from claiming the top spot? Can Fujinami do the impossible and carry Kensuke Sasaki? Will Tenryu kicking guys in the nose & not giving a shit ever get old?
- CMLL was loaded in 1998. LOADED.
- I don't mean to be racist, but I think I'll be surprised if more than 5 US matches end up making my Top 100. WWF fans did not give a fuck about wrestling and WCW was a hot mess. In fairness, FMW was crap too.
- looks like my Top 100 matches will largely consist of high end grappling matches and sleazy gorefests.
- obligatory tease: that Zrno/Collins masterpiece was released on one of a series of VHS comm releases, and I know a few people who may hav converted those VHS tapes. In short I'll try using my german contacts to get more of that sweet eurograps.

Damn. Try VK.com next, I guess, since it's almost impossible for anything to get pulled from there and it works as well as YouTube or anything else.

aaaayyyy fam what's going on here? WKO has more activity than this place. Is this thing still happening? 2nd viewing madness period is over and I reviewed over 50 matches now and I haven't even watched some of the most hyped matches. Are we gonna have individual threads now or can I just nuke this one with my thoughts on individual workers that were bringing it in 1998?
