He's had a sleeper year, not unlike last year. What is unlike last year is that he's not in Evolve anymore and in some weird ways that's probably for the better. In terms of creative violence, ring logic, and fresh approaches to the simple there remains no one in wrestling that I'm aware of who is on his level. It could possibly be argued that he doesn't have the absolute peak stuff he had last year, but I'm not entirely sure I believe it, and he's actually pieced together quite a few notable matches in a lot of different places when given opportunities. My favorites are the Eddie Kingston match from AAW and the Arik Royal match from Action, but any Fred match is a good match at minimum and he has some sneaky good ones this year that have been largely unheralded (vs Simon Grimm at BLP, vs Darby Allin at Southern Fried, et).

Probably won't make it as high on my list this year with him out of EVOLVE and not really wrestling the same quality of opponent as consistently as he has the past two years. But he's still a unique presence in the indies that delivers way more often than he doesn't, and probably still gets a top 50 spot. That match with Kingston might be the best match I've seen in AAW all year. It's a shame his most high-profile booking was a relative dud (and as poorly thought-out as the PWG match with Starr was, it wasn't even the worst match on that card, much less the worst match in company history)

Voted him number 2 last year, only behind Pete Dunne. Currently sitting at 77th for me right now. Leaving Evolve really dropped his ranking, and if it wasn't for wXw and the Eddie match in AAW he'd probably be on the outside looking in. Thats quite disappointing because he's one of my favorites. Hopefully he catches on someone big soon

One has to wonder if Gabe wishes he still had Yehi right about now. Haven't gotten as much of a chance to see his work this year, but what he did do in Evolve was good, he has a couple of really fun matches in BLP and I LIKED the Starr match in PWG (may be the only one). In my bottom quarter right now.

People are really underrating Yehi in this thread, I much prefer him working weirder matches as a vagabond, then working guys in that EVOLVE house style. His Warner match in the SCI was super fun, the Kingston match was a classic as was the Royal ACTION match, and I dug his Cain Justice match a bunch too. I need to dig into his Euro tour and the ACTION rematches with Cain and Royal, but I think he has been awesome this year.
