Been coasting through 95% of the year, but he was in another MOTYC with LA Park. So that counts for something. Borderline guy for me.

I have loved the Rush vs. LA Park feud, so Rush has earned a spot on my list, somewhere in the middle. The singles match from early in the year and his singles match vs. Black Terry are enough for me, but I have also enjoyed the various tag iterations of Rush vs. LA Park. There are a lot of objective and reasonable ways to look at wrestling but our own personal taste still determines a large part of what we watch, and a roided-out asshole with his brother and old-ass dad fighting a violent nut in a skeleton costume with his identically attired & extremely skinny son might just be what really speaks to me on an emotional level. I am also a fan of dudes doing push-ups mid-match. I don't watch CMLL too regularly, but whenever I do Rush stands out as far more interesting than any rudo in the top 2 or 3 matches (except for Casas, obviously, and maybe Kraneo? ). I see what people say is Rush coasting but it really feels like "CMLL house style" to me.

It says a lot about how down I am on Lucha these days that Rush is wrestling 2 hours from my house in a little over a week and I haven't even considered going. Would have been unfathomable 2 years ago

I've still liked a lot this year but no LLE and CMLL booking being one of the worst in the world has definitely turned me off too.

I think Lio's been really good in the matches I've seen this year. He'll probably sneak in somewhere around the 80s or 90s. Looking forward to seeing his NXT matches in the coming weeks.

Love all the stuff that's been mentioned already but I'm looking for some weekly TV standouts to put him higher than the low end of my list. Heard mention of some good Puebla and Coliseo matches that he shines in as opposed to Arena Mexico matches that he mostly sleeps through. Anyone have any suggestions on that end or should I go digging through YouTube?

CMLL's gonna CMLL, but outside of that organization Rush still looks very much like a top ten guy. Great dickwad heel who never forgets his primary job is to hurt the face -- when he pulls out of his dropkick to kick Park in the face instead, it's injury as well as insult. My favorite performance of his this year is a tag with Ultimo Guerrero vs. Park and Caristico, AFAIK currently available in full only in a silent cellphone-shot version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBG_yV44pSg). Fine stooging and comedy until it turns into the usual bloodbath. I'm sure it would get lucha MOTY talk if +LuchaTV would release the whole thing instead of just highlights, but the odds of that aren't much higher than the odds of getting a hair-mask match with Park.

Volume may be an issue, but he's got enough fun brawls to earn a spot on at least the lower half of the list. Really reminds me of that throwback brawler in the vein of Funk or Hansen who can take a fight all over the place and use anything that's not nailed down. Also has the occasional good garbage match like against Masada.
