Having the best run of the entire G1 is enough to warrant Ibushi a spot somewhere. He also has the great Okada match as Tiger Mask and some solid tag bouts. However, I haven't seen any of his stuff outside of New Japan so volume could be an issue (would love some recommendations). But anyone who gets legitimately good matches out of Makabe and Fale earns a spot in the top 50.

He was a part of that insane DDT 6 man that is a pretty easy hoot of the year contender. I didn't love his G1 as much as many, but the ZSJ match is a true MOTYC and one of my favorite matches of the G1 (probably second behind the final really). The Tana and Nagata matches are great too, and maybe if I rewatch the Naito match I'll love it like other people do. Probably bottom 25 guy who gets there based on his high end stuff with a chance to go higher if he has another MOTYC with Tanahashi at Power Struggle.

I appreciated his match at WK11 a lot more than most. I absolutely loved the Naito match. Top 10, maybe even top 5 matches of the year, for me personally. Volume is an issue, and will probably keep him in the 40-ish range.

The G1 run definitely helped his case. Still haven't gotten around to seeing his two K Dojo matches.

I've been pretty firmly anti-Ibushi for a good long while but man, he was such a breath of fresh air in the G1. Not sure if he had a match I didn't like. Maybe the Goto match but Goto was very easily my least favorite guy in the tournament this year. In any case, a sizable string of good to great matches in the summer will probably land Ibushi a spot on my list, and once I catch up with other Japanese stuff from the year he might make it pretty far.
