I love that Trevor Lee match. I know some people think it's overrated that's fine, I was there, I don't. Very few matches have ever grabbed me at that level live. I really thought other places should have followed up on the buzz from that match to really move forward with him and they didn't for whatever reason. Still he has had good or great performances with a bunch of different promotions this year against a bunch of different guys.

Finished at 17 for me last year. May end up barely squeezing into my Top 100 this year. Honestly boils to a matter of where he works and I do think that's played a part into his losing so much of the "buzz" he had this time last year. Still enjoyable when I get to see him work, but that's the problem: you have to dig to find his work.

He's actually probably had as many matches make tape this year as he did last year, possibly even more as he hits PWX and CWF pretty regularly this year. The biggest difference is that you aren't attending AWE shows imo

Haven't seen much outside of the CWF and NOVA stuff. He's been great, and I did love the Trevor Lee match, he just doesn't always connect. He's commented twice during his matches in Nova Pro that the crowd died, which sort of rubbed me the wrong way. He will probably make the tail end of my list based on him still being a great worker, I just think he could use some changes in scenery. Maybe he'll get booked for EVOLVE!

The Trevor match was overrated but so slightly as to hardly matter. Needs to get a new running crowd and find a gym. Some guys can skate on their physique and it doesnt hurt, Chip needs to be in shape. It'll only help him

Had to check but Chip made my list last year basically solely due to his strong showing in SCI. Wouldn't say he's substantially worse this year but I guess that's based on pretty limited 2016 viewing so I'll defer to the experts. Still, based on the CWF stuff I've seen so far, he'll more than likely make my list. Have problems with that Trevor match but at the end of the day it'll make my top 50 matches of the year and features a hell of a lot of great character work from Chip. The two matches leading up to it were lots of fun too. Really liked the Chip/Trevor vs All Stars tag from May even if it felt worse after a rewatch. He occupies an interesting space between hard-nosed striker and wily vet with lots of personality, the sort of combination you could probably identify in a lot of people on the indies these days but I'm not sure if I like any of them as much as Chip.
