Listen,
Someone's going to have to figure out what we're calling him for the purposes of this poll/list/whatever it is, but I did want to go ahead and start a thread here.
Very charismatic performer whom I haven't seen nearly as much of in 2017 as I did last year. Weird thing is that what little I have seen left a much bigger impact on me and he'll make my Top 100 this year. Last year I had him at #107. Right now, for the 2017 list, he's hanging around in the mid-50s.
If you haven't seen it yet, you've got to go watch the death match with Matt Tremont from this year's CZW Best of the Best.

Pentagon is one of my favorite guys out there, and will likely end up in my top 20. Like I said with Fenix, I need to catch up on AAW, but the US indie matches I have seen from earlier this year (the out of control deathmatch vs. Tremont and the AR Fox match that escalates from normal indie style match to absolutely insane bumps) were really good. An undeniable part of Pentagon's appeal to me is his aura, but it works well because his best matches are built around his "unbeatable insane ninja skeleton guy" gimmick/presence. In the AR Fox match, the Michael Elgin match, the tag w/Daga vs. Violento Jack & Aero Boy, etc. Pentagon tries to wrestle a normal match to start. He knows that he is the unbeatable ninja skeleton guy, and really whomever he is facing should recognize that as well and the match shouldn't be much more than a squash. It's when his opponent starts actually fighting back that Pentagon has to keep escalating the violence, either in crazier and crazier bumps (AR Fox), stiff punches and strikes (Elgin) or plunder and brawling (the tag match) until the other guy can't keep up. He'll get hit with big moves and lost control of a mtach temporarily, but never so much that he can't come back with something bigger (and never so much that he actually loses). He's booked strong enough in AAW and everywhere else that this works. The Lucha Brothers vs. Alvarados tag takes the structure above and sort of twists it. Maximo and La Mascara come in and catch Pentagon and Fenix off guard, running things early in the match, and continue to dominate most of the match. It's not until things get really crazy that the Lucha Brothers are able to control the match (and then again after the run-in stuff, because Konnan can't book a match without run-ins). Also, cool masks and cursing are cool. Here's the links. That last match is not anything special, but it is a deathmatch involving a car so that is cool: PROMOTION NAME | NAME OF SHOW | DATE OF SHOW | MATCH | LINK | AULL |

What Penta lacks in that one truly "great" singles match, he more than makes up for in number of "really good" performances. One of the best strikers in the world who can work a sprint, indie-riffic spotfest, or hardcore garbage match. Not necessarily a top-tier worker but one of the most consistently fun wrestlers you'll see.

I miss the psycho lucha brawler who was stabbing guys with bottles in grimy feds with guys sitting in plastic patio chairs. By no means would I say he's bad now, but almost all the excitement and things I loved about him before are gone now. We got a flash of it in the Tremont match, but the rest of the year is a sea of him putting in good performances in matches I don't care a ton about. Not sure what to do with a guy like that.

The ZSJ vs. Pentagon Jr. match from WM weekend was shockingly great and one of my top matches of the weekend. The Matt Tremont match was cool though probably won't come near my top DMs of the year.Him & Daga vs. Park & Escorpion was top notch stuff. A proper match against either opponent would likely boost his candidacy up significantly.
His 2018 will already likely be better with the Nick Gage match on tap.
