The Authors of Pain, baby.
Maybe the most improved tag team in the world from last year.
Will be making another post for Akam, but I've got them 29/30 on my ballot right now and Akam is one spot higher because "A" comes before "R". Nothing more.
Their argument is really based around four matches this year, but they're NXT guys and depth is often always questionable. Regardless, they both deliver.
Your matches to watch are their tag title win against DIY in San Antonio, the triple threat match from Orlando, the ladder match from Chicago, and the tag title loss from from Brooklyn.
They just popped back up on TV on the last taping so I'm assuming they get one more go this year in Houston.
Definite call ups in next year's Superstar Shakeup.
And the beauty of it all? They're both very young and are only going to get better.

They have the best track record in NXT TakeOver history. No one has delivered like them. An excellent match with DIY in San Antonio, a borderline MOTY with DIY and The Revival in Orlando, another excellent match with DIY in Chicago, and again an excellent match with Sanity in Brookyn. 4 TakeOver matches, all ****1/4 or better for me. Those 4 alone get them in the conversation for best tag team in the world and in my Top 100, maybe Top 50.

I'd go so far as to say the AOP/DIY trilogy was better and will have more important long-term effects than the Okada/Omega matches.
The Authors have been unbelievably good. The San Antonio match was great, but I know a lot of people said it would be hard to replicate. Then they did it again. Twice. Then they did it without the help of DIY in Brooklyn. Fantastic.
The AOP have been my second-favorite tag team of the year, only behind the South Pacific Power Trip, and that might only be because they've had more than four competitive matches.

They have to make my list because of the high end stuff. No way around it. Eager to see what happens with a Main Roster run though. They could be the tag team version of Braun: having great squashes as they transition into being a dominant team. Or they could get overexposed working on TV way way more. Hoping they play the less is more game with them.

Being in some of the best tag team matches of the year earns both Akam and Rezar a spot on the list, the only question is where. I would argue they had higher peaks than the Usos, but less volume.
