I'm not sure if Tremont is the living embodiment of Guy Debord's "Society of the Spectacle" or refutation of it through masochism, but in any event he's legitimately had one of the most fascinating years on record this year and I haven't even seen the Janela singles match that just took place at On Point or either Nick Gage match (I'm assuming both are on SMV and I really should look into getting them). Whether it was the light tube battle with Pentagon, getting SOME form of the Onita match at CZW, spewing blood all over the front row at Janela's spring break, fighting Tank in the front yard of the Church of Cornelia, letting Madman Pondo hurl a bowling ball at his head in DJ Hyde's parents backyard, or taking no less than a dozen thumbtack bumps against Ace Romero in a ten minute match, there is no one aside from maybe Janela who has done more eyebrow raising stuff that really pops off the page in 2017. He's made himself a "dream match" guy where every match has some sort of excitement hovering around it and that is not easy to do. That's something that increasingly matters to me the older I get, so I'll rate him rather high

People don't know how serious his injury really was.

I've been thinking a lot recently about the history of deathmatch wrestling and how one would define certain eras within the genre. While other events throughout the year help cement that it was a time of major change in the landscape, Tremont's debut in 2011 is how I mark the beginning this current era of deathmatch wrestling and 2017 being what will almost assuredly be the last full year of his career marks the end of that era. The rumblings began last year but it's been clear for a while that Tremont was going to be winding down in 2017 and he's going out with a bang instead of a whimper. They're not all stellar but his matches against Janela, Riddle, Pentagon, MASADA, and Cannonball have all been good at least on his end, and his matches against legends like Tank, Pondo, Zandig, and Klein were even harder to pull off but came across wonderfully. The first Nick Gage match is an utter spectacle and will finish quite highly on my MOTY list. I've not seen the second one yet but I can't imagine it's substantially worse. The first Onita "match" was what it was but his role in it was superb. You could see from miles away what it would turn into but it's solely to Tremont's credit over the last few years, and especially in 2017, that I was still excited for it, that it was still something I had to see live when I watch so very little wrestling as it happens. If their bigger bout coming up soon is legitimately good, Tremont will finish real high on my list. He's been *THE* guy in deathmatch wrestling for over five years now, a shoo-in for the deathmatch Mount Rushmore, and 2017 was the clearest example of why that is.

Best death match and brawler around. Top 5 best death match guys ever while still being so much more than just a death match guy. Can have an entertaining match with almost anyone, consistently cuts some of the best promos, and has a presence wherever he works at that can't be matched by anyone else on the card.

I'm not a huge deathmatch guy but I'm drawn to Tremont's matches. Something about his particular brand of violence appeals to me in a way that a lot of other deathmatch guys don't. He has a great presence. Been making it a point to start watching as much of his stuff as I can.

He's a lock for top 25. I saw a lot of wrestling WM weekend and his match with Penta was the clear standout, being there live skews my rating but I called it **** 3/4. It held up when I recently revisited it.
Dylan hits it on the head, he's one of the best spectacle workers of 2017, I want to see him work against everyone, it's a rare achievement to see a wrestler be able to do this.
