I feel like Chuck Taylor's had an incredible year on the indies. Both his title matches with Sabre in PWG have been phenomenal. He's one of the best plunder brawlers out there - see his matches with Riddle in EVOLVE and Scurll in PWG in particular. He's always a joy to watch in tags, whether his partner is Trent, Orange Cassidy or Chuck Taylorâ„¢. He's maybe the best comedy guy period on the scene, but he can do just about everything. It's honestly a shame it's taken this long for a place like ROH to give him a fair shake and for PWG to put the belt on him. He's been great for years, but his 2017 output might be some of his best yet.

Based solely on his PWG stuff, he's got a good chance to make my list. Sure, I've got a tremendous bias towards the guy, but I think the chase for the belt was legitimately good. One of the best PWG stories in a long, long time, and that's not just based on the fact that they don't book stories anymore. He did great in those matches as this guy who was very clearly out of his element and wasn't sure how to reconcile with that with an opponent who was so very out of his league, which worked both on a kayfabe level and on a deeper, real level. He's not blowing anyone away, to be sure, especially not your Ospreay and Omega fans out there, but he brings a different appeal that I very much have appreciated on the top of the PWG cards. Looking forward to the Ricochet match and catching up with his non-PWG work.

I never really loved him and I haven't see enough PWG this year to really rate that stuff, so he won't make my list. But he has still impressed me this year. I thought he was straight up bad in EVOLVE last year, but the no DQ Riddle match from this year is so so good, and really convinced me that he should pretty much only do wild brawls. His stuff in AAW, Beyond, and ROH hasn't been bad either. I think branching out a bit more (ie not doing Chikara 20-30 times a year) sure helps him.

That Matt Riddle brawl in San Antonio was good.
His ROH PPV match against Marty Scurll may have been the best match on that show.
The ROH TV main event this week featuring Best Friends/Rocky Romero vs The Elite was a good piece of business.
He's just outside my Top 100 right now.
I've always liked some Chuck Taylor.
