It's probably fair to say he does too much, and I get why he wouldn't be for everyone, but you could make a reasonable argument for him at number 1 at this stage. In terms of creating an atmosphere and a vibe of danger and excitement around his matches no one is better at this point and that includes people like Gage and Darby. You could easily pick apart the Janelope matches if you want to, but every one I have seen this year has been very fun at minimum, and a couple of them have really been incredible spectacles (everyone should watch the Bar Wrestling match v. Everfly and Doom which is the one most likely to fly under radars). The David Starr match that kicked off the year was legitimately great and still near the top of my MOTY list even with a beginning to the year that has been extremely strong when it comes to high end matches. I thought he had a shockingly good match with Pillman Jr. at Black Label given Brian's experience level, the Gage singles from Beyond was a strong match albeit perhaps a hair disappointing, and the Dickinson brawl in the bar is up there with the aforementioned Starr match as one of the most compelling, easy to watch, and unique matches in recent memory. Yeah he gets carried away, and there is always the chance he will run shit right off the rails, but he's basically become the Sabu of his generation.

I actually like that he shows up in a ton of different promotions. I think at this time you basically know what you are going to get with him, a great wrestler who can do a lot of cool and fun things in the ring. Top 15-20 is not out of the question

Oddly, my two favorite matches of Janela's this year are probably against Jonah Rock and WALTER. Both really good and follow in the archetype of scrappy tinier lad against beefy, beefy boys. Dude gets splatted real good. Not sure he is a GREAT wrestler or anything. Even in the Jonah Rock match he felt like he was shoehorning a stylistic approach that he isn't nearly as good at as just scrapping and clawing.

He's really good at his style of entertainment, and his ultimate placement on the list will depend on how much the voters buy into what he does.
I really like him. I had him at 84 last year, and he has a good chance of getting a higher spot than that on my list this year.

I like him a lot. Not a lot of matches that really wow me but he's always entertaining. Will probably make my top 50 just on volume.

Another feather in Janela's cap is how he can also adapt to comedy well. The Janelope/Orange Cassidy & Session Moth Martina match at WM Weekend was one of the most fun matches I watched this year and a lot of that was because of how Janela played off Cassidy and Martina's usual tropes.

I'll be honest, I wasn't digging his stuff earlier in the year, but ever since he came to Evolve, damn if I haven't really enjoyed a ton of his matches. Everything I've seen from him there has been good and just recently started catching up on PWG and he had very good matches with Flash Morgan Webster and Rey Horus. Pretty gutted that he'll be out for the foreseeable future and I just hope he comes back sometime before the end of 2019.

Definitely agree that the move to EVOLVE worked well for Janela. He skyrocketed in my rankings after he started working there (the match with Starr at Americanrana helped a lot too). It sucks that he's hurt because I feel like he was well on pace for top 25, but he's probably gonna get passed back into a slightly lower range.
