Might as well get him up here because he's picked up a decent lead on my list. We're not even at Mania weekend yet and he's already has a double digit amount of matches rated. Current highlights are his match from today against Kota Ibushi in the NJ Cup, against WALTER at Evolve 99, from Progress Chapter 63. Given the fact that he works in basically every promotion I pay a good deal of attention to I'd be shocked if he didn't end up in my top 10 minimum.

I'm generally indifferent on Zack but I loved his New Japan Cup run. Specifically, I enjoyed the SANADA match way more than I expected to. To boot, his post-match promo's have been amazing.

New Japan Cup run was tremendous with the Ibushi and Tanahashi matches being the best New Japan matches so far this year. Zack continues to prove that he's the best technician in the world with a slick and creative counter for almost everything his opponent throws at him.

ZSJ's biggest upside last year was the sheer volume of good-to-great matches in all different promotions. I had 27 of the 53 matches of his I rated at ***3/4 or more from Evolve to PWG to NJPW to Progress.
I think his New Japan Cup run was fantastic, he has the ability to get Okada's best match of the year at Sakura, and he still has Evolve Title defenses, PWG tapes to be released and the G1 left to go.
Could lock himself into my top 5 very soon.

Great run in the NJ Cup, looking forward to his match with Okada, should have a great rest of the year

Have him as my number one by far this year. NJC run was tremendous and I've found his EVOLVE stuff has been much more compelling this year, which might have more to do with his variety of opponents than his own work. His match with Tyler in PROGRESS was really good. The Okada match was disappointing but I feel that was mostly on the booking and I have the Tanahashi match as the runner up MOTY so far.

I can see having guys with higher peaks like Gargano and Almas ahead of him, but no one comes close to Sabre at this point when it comes to volume. At least no one I've seen.

I have Zack in at #2 for the year so far just behind Walter but I can honestly see Zack taking the lead as 2018 progresses with a SSS16 tournament run ready to drop and presumably more regular appearances for Progress and wXw along with the G1 obviously.
I love the match he recently had with Lucky Kid in wXw

Zack comes off fairly cold to me, which isn't a bad thing. He's the modern day Bret Hart in that you can plug anyone into his formula and spit out **** without breaking much of a sweat, but he also doesn't really connect with you emotionally. Works best as an ice cold prickish heel working on top. Likely to make my top 5 based on sheer volume and consistency.

Now that he's more or less dropped most of his US connections, haven't seen quite as much of him this year as last. From what I've seen, he's still a guy who is consistently great, but never hits the absolute heights his contemporaries do. I had him at 7 last year and he'll probably be just on the bad side of my top ten this year.
