#1 contender for best of the 2010s? More likely than you think! Going to be dropping recs in this thread for the best wrestler to ever wrestle in All Japan, but also rec your favorite old man Jun stuff!

the 2013 Champions Carnival finals vs. KAI basically makes the entire case, and it's one of the most impressive matches of the decade when you consider KAI's other output (mostly terrible). Insane Jun performance in an old style All Japan match, against an opponent who otherwise has a career of underachieving, in a match that maybe only Jun Akiyama could have had.
Not sure if he'll be in my top 25-50, but no way one of the ten best wrestlers ever isn't on the list.

yeah KAI has probably underachieved but he's always been at minimum good in AJPW which largely speaks to Akiyama having confidence in him & bringing out the best in everyone he works with
Akiyama really does have an absurdly strong case for top ten at worst and that probably sounds ridiculous to a lot of people for whose shit I have no time, like him either saying "nah I do wanna be a potential TC challenger again" or his presence in the CC being necessitated by Omori getting hurt, whatever it was, he's had a phenomenal year so far and then just trace it back as a GHC contender in NOAH or in the mid-decade after Burning moved back home

Jun is of the people I"m most looking forward to viewing. I've really only seen his CC run this year and a handful of tags last year. And yet he still often looks like one of the best wrestlers in the world. For someone who worked as punishing a style as King's Road, he's done a tremendous job adapting his style and keeping up with the younger talent.
Along with the Kai match mentioned up-thread and the Triple Crown match with Kento, would love any and all recommendations.
