For the better part of the decade, one of the most reliable guys to have a great title match/tournament/G1 out of anyone in New Japan. His title match against Omega last year gave me hope that they'd finally give him a real push up top and he did look very good in the New Japan Cup. Since the presumed Dome challenger/champion has been thought to be Naito, at best I can hope for maybe an IC title run. His match with Nagata was one of my favorite things this year and his match with Okada was also excellent.

Ishii being a top 10 contender is pretty much the only constant every year. His final placement ultimately depends on how much he's given to do. Thankfully, a push in the New Japan Cup, mini-feud with EVIL, and title program with Taichi (giving the latter arguably his best match ever) complements his usual G1 MVP run nicely. It's getting to the point where it's almost impossible for this guy to have a bad singles match (the NJ Cup match with Taichi came close but they managed to right the ship). Unreal physical charisma, underrated selling, monstrous offense, and the ability to pull off no-selling authentically simply because he carries himself like the baddest dude around. Potential NEVER title programs post-G1 gives him a serious case for number 1 this year.
