I think if anyone had a "breakout" weekend this past Mania weekend, it was Dom. The "Submit or Surrender" match at the AIW show is one of the most unique hardcore matches I've seen in a very long time, and Dom's selling of his cauliflower ear was a big part of that. He also shined in a tag setting in the SUP Graps showcase trios and against legends like Tank and Manny Fernandez at the BLP show. One of the most unique guys on the indies right now, and if he keeps up his current pace, this might be his best year yet.

I've completely bought into the possibility of Garrini being a #1 contender. Probably in part due to this being a bit of a weaker, less BIG MATCH heavy year than some in recent memory.
The Bishop match from WM weekend is probably his highlight, would be the highlight for most folks. That said, he's also part of probably the tag team of the year with Kevin Ku. In a way he reminds me of the way people talk about the Diaz brothers. Any given night if they decided too, they probably could tap you out. That isn't how they are wired though and they want to punch you until you can't come forward any more. Well any given match, Garrini could probably prove to be one of the best grapplers on the scene today but that's not how he's wired. He wants to go out there and toss you around or forearm your head off. Something he is very compelling at even if I wouldn't define that as his absolute best skillset. In a year where I'm watching more SUP and him and Ku are getting more out there, those sorts of performances stand out.
Oh, watch the match against Cabana Man Dan from SUP. Hoot of the Year and great bully performance.
