He's my pick for the best US indie wrestler this year (assuming you consider EVOLVE still indie) with great stuff in EVOLVE, Freelance and over SCI weekend. I was very excited he got to showcase how good he was on the Network and his match with Theory definitely more than delivered. His upcoming feud with Anthony Henry feels like it has the potential to be the Steen/Generico hot indie feud of this decade if done right. It would not surprise me if one of the bigger companies come calling though given his look and the lack of physical diversity in the "majors," he may never get his proper due.
