Another New Japan guy who frustrates me more for the booking of him and the ultra defensiveness of those who consider him a superstar. In the ring, when he avoids most of the BC bs, he is a very good wrestler and can even put on great matches with that nonsense (G1 Final). But, he's overrated by so many New Japan diehards that I can't help but dislike him. I'd probably be a lot more into him as a face or if they didn't slot him to be the replacement for Omega.

I'm not sure there's a better example of someone who's both overrated and underrated than Jay White. He lacks the charisma and star power you'd want from a top heel and he can be a bit inconsistent in the ring as evidenced by his G1 run. But I still feel that his best work doesn't get enough credit. He can definitely deliver in a big match situation as evidenced by his matches with Okada, Ospreay,Tanahashi, and Ibushi. He has terrific mechanics and underrated limb work. And while his G1 was a bit up-and-down, he still had very strong performances against Goto, Ishii, Shingo, and Juice. His inconsistency hurts him, but his best stuff I think gives him a chance for at least the top 30.
