He's an odd one for me.
I feel like he's either on like his matches with Roode in NXT and matches with Cena and Orton on Smackdown. Or he's off like that really bad match with Corbin at Battleground. Hoping him and Jinder kill it at Hell in a Cell to build up his resume some more.

There's just too many matches of his this year that suck and have a phoned in performance by him to merit a top 100 place on my list.

Currently sits at #14 on my list.
Both Roode matches were exceptional. I liked the Dolph/Backlash match more than most and they had the best match on the Pensacola house show I went to earlier this year. Cena match was a four star affair, give or take a quarter star. Same with the Orton match. I'm also higher on the Jinder matches than a lot of folks.
Does he phone it in at times? Yes, this isn't a new phenomena. He's done it for awhile, long before he came to New York.
In the end, it doesn't matter to me. There's enough good there for him to not only make my Top 100 but place in the Top 20.

Agree mostly with this take. Think his match with Jinder at HITC could be a banger. At least hope it is. #20 on my list now

Won't make my list. I went **** on the Cena match but I haven't liked anything else. Maybe he'll start trying soon.

He gets too much shit. Was he hyped up too much because Americans watched Wrestle Kingdom 9 and saw him have the match of his life and assumed that's how he is all the time? Yeah. But he's had an amazing match with Bobby Roode in January, a good match with Roode in April, two really good matches with Cena and Orton, and even a solid TV match with Ziggler. He's had a good year.

He had a tremendous performance at the Wildwood house show the night before Battleground vs. Jinder and Dolph. I was a big fan of his feud with Roode, thought his Corbin match was better than most and his Summerslam match with Jinder was a banger. Add two great TV matches with Orton and Cena and you have a really, really solid year for Nakamura

Cena and Orton tv matches were good. First Roode match was great. Second Roode match was utterly boring affair that spoke to me and said "fuck this guy," which is saying something because I was crazy high on the first match. Dolph match did zilch for me and was a disaster in terms of structure and logic (among the least sensical matches of the year honestly). Jinder match from SS was not awful, but it was absolutely not good and Nakamura did not look good in it. Came across like Nak on night four of a tag league for NJPW, not the second or third biggest WWE show of the year. The Corbin match stunk, and while it's easy to blame Corbin, looking at Nak's scattershot tag record and his level of effort in the match in question it's hard to toss that solely on to Big Breakfast. If he had a really great match with Jinder and a few big tv matches to close the year he could squeeze into the lower reaches of my list, but as it stands now there are an army of U.S. indie guys who actually work hard, have good matches, and whose matches don't feel like a chore to sit through that I'd have comfortably above him.
