Having a great year as Strong Division Champ in Big Japan. Seeing this guy out wrestle these brutes in the Strong Division is the smartest title reign I've seen in while. I wasn't high on the first Daisuke Sekimoto match but the second match made up for it and the matches with Okabayashi and Kamitani were really good.
I still need to watch the Kawakami and Hashimoto matches but I've heard good things about those matches too.

People are a little down are BJW this year, which is fine, but I don't really get people saying Suzuki's reign has been bad. He's delivered a lot of great high end stuff that pretty much perfectly encapsulates what I want in a Strong Division main event. I ranked him very high last year, so he might slip a bit from there, but he's still a strong top 5 contender.

Hideki has my only 5 star match in the past couple of years. Top 20 at least if that was all he did and had a whole bunch of stink otherwise.

There are a lot of wrestlers who are fun to watch, but Hideki Suzuki is one of the few who is genuinely mesmerizing. Even if he's not always wrestling MOTYC's, he's a wrestler who just has a way of drawing you in and leaving you enthralled. His submissions and mat work are done with such a visceral finesse and his strikes are strong and heavy. Has a very strong claim to best technical wrestler in the world and one of the very best overall.

Has my #1 MOTY and Is my #1 on this list. Fantastic performer yet again and while constantly facing crappy workers up and down.

We're not quite there to the degree that we are with, say, [INSERT POLARIZING WWE WRESTLER HERE], but the discourse surrounding Hideki has swung back and forth between "fantastic wrestler" and "irredeemable garbage" to the point that I can't help but find myself somewhere in the middle. I really like the guy's style, both in how he carries himself and what he does in the ring, but I've found myself bored to tears by so many of his matches in 2017. A good deal of that problem stems from the repetitive, counteractive BJW booking, but at some point you have to look at the common problem with a series of five or six underwhelming title matches. Even if his Strong Title work didn't light my world on fire, his BJW tag matches usually did as well as a pair of bouts with Takuya Nomura that were very different from each other and very enjoyable. I'm not totally sure he makes my top 100 at the moment but he's certainly got a case depending on how you views things.

Need to actually dive into more Suzuki. Has two of my highest rated matches of the year but I haven't gone in for anything else. Some of his matches have sound syncing issues which may kill me. Big Japan's streaming service being a wet fart doesn't help.

RealHero Archive has almost all of his singles matches prior to the launch of the streaming service. The series with Sekimoto is absolutely worth seeing. The first match is actually my highest-rated for either man.

The series with Sekimoto is absolutely worth seeing. The first match is actually my highest-rated for either man. I have one Hideki match higher but yeah, same. Anybody who enjoyed the Hideki/Okabayashi match or is just interested in seeing what the guy is all about should check out the first Hideki/Sekimoto match from March.
