YOSHI-HASHI is far from my favorites, I really don't care for him, but he had a good year. Some really good, fun matches throughout it.

If not for Hiromu killing it through June and Okada/Shibata being a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing, YOSHI-HASHI would have the best NJPW title match of the year against Suzuki.
I'm not kidding.

Is there a more underappreciated wrestler in the world today than YOSHI-HASHI? I don't think so. Really solid stuff in the G-1 and some other pretty good matches against SANADA in the NJ Cup and Dunne in RevPro. While he probably won't make my list, he's very much someone who just misses the cut as opposed to having no chance.

I had something of an affinity for YOSHI-HASHI through 2016 but I feel like either someone was slipping me DMT for a few years or he regressed massively because I almost exclusively hated him in 2017. I feel like he didn't show up in his big matches aside from the aforementioned Suzuki bout, with his interactions with the champion at Dominion also being a high point in the year for him. He was the worst part of the G1 for me, notably stinking it up in his Korakuen main event and only really turning things around in his match with Fale, bafflingly. Was not into the Omega match and while I didn't see the Cole match, I can't imagine it was much different. Where I used to see a goofy, spunky career midcarder who could occasionally go toe to toe with his betters, I now just see a guy with a total lack of fire. He didn't make my list last year but he at least had the New Year's Dash match where he held his own against AJ and Omega and sure didn't feel like a fifth wheel there, and he doesn't have anything close to that for me in 2017. I guess I wouldn't disparage anyone for slipping him in on the higher end of their list, but man, I just don't see it.
