If you're like me and count stuff from the end of December that aired in January as 2018 material, Will Ospreay has had a hell of a month and even without it probably still deserves a thread. A ROH TV match that aired on 1/14 vs Jay Lethal, his PROGRESS return vs Travis Banks at Chapter 60, a fun 4 way at WK12, an incredible match with Wild Boar at ATTACK, a Chapter 61 match with Adam Brooks, a good little sprint against Mark Andrews at High Stakes, and a very good match with Dick Riley at Pro Wrestling Chaos.

...but 2017 stuff is 2017 stuff regardless of when it was released.

Not an Ospreay fan so please, somebody, convince me that the Matt Riddle match from the WWN Supershow was actually not good and was not helped in large part by Ospreay's insane bumping and selling and perfectly timed comebacks. Please, I am begging you.

Lol I had the exact same thought on the Riddle match. This guys the hardest for me to rate. His in ring presence and character work could not rank any lower with me. He comes off as so incredibly unlikeable while a babyface and his heel work is always over the top. I'm really not into him working longer matches and I'm frustrated by his recent booking as Okada-lite in NJPW. But the dude has incredible amounts of talent and that Riddle match at mania weekend was my non-NXT match of the weekend. He can be absolutely fantastic while working a sprint, the problem is hes working 35 minute semi mains. I also think he works much better against bigger guys, save for the Okada match which I really couldn't get into. I have him somewhere around 50 right now which feels generous because half the time I cant stand watching the guy, but it feels harsh considering the highs that I know he's capable of.

Hey remember for those that are participating that you shouldn't be including 2017 material in for 2018 even if it was released in 2018. That's written in the guidelines of the project.

From someone like me who generally enjoys his more spotfest-oriented stuff, Will has had a great first quarter. When you take his really fun early outings like the four-way at WK, the title defense against Hiromu, and the Anniversary match with Okada and combine those with his tremendous babyface performances against Fox, Riddle, and Scurll, you have a really strong early top 10 candidate.

I had him at number one last year and through mid year, he was seemingly going to hit number one again. He hasn't really had much of a second half of 2018 with the possible exception of the Walter matches (which were tremendous), so I'd say his chances of repeating with me are less than they were six months ago. Still a contender for sure and he's definitely a top 5 guy for me. The WWN match with Riddle is my favorite non-NXT match of the year and it was due in large part to Will.
