Maybe the best grappler on the planet in terms of having a beautiful, creative, and hurty looking technique that doesn't betray or deviate too wildly from pro wrestling conventions. Has a chance to close the year really strong with a return match against Yehi at NOVA and Powerbomb.tv stuff, but he's already got the first brilliant match v. Yehi, several fun ROH matches, the really good Fire Ant match from the PB title tournament and other stuff I'm forgetting. If a place would run with him and give him stories to work off of he's got the skillset to be a number one contender. Maybe next year

The Yehi match is a high end MOTYC. Hopefully that means people will come out to see the rematch live.

Between the Yehi, Elgin, Cage, Skyler, Jay Freddie matches he’s a lock for my list. A guy that will always stand out and be great regardless of who he’s in there with because he’s so adept at everything wrestling. Wish I️ could vote him higher since he possibly is the most talented worker on the planet but I’m thinking top 20-25 as it stands now

Loved his matches in the Powerbomb tournament and he's absolutely the right choice to carry the independent title. He's likely going to be very high on my list as he's one of those wrestlers who's on such a high level right now that I'll be trying to get my hands on as many matches as possible.

Haven't seen a lot of him this year, which is a shame because if I had he would likely make my list. If I binge through Powerbomb TV he still might make it

Was the high man on him last year and while I have the sneaking suspicion that won't be the case in 2017, I'll be damned if he drops out of my top ten for the year. The Powerbomb.TV Independent title did wonders for my man Gresham, supplying a trio of tournament matches that showcased his skillset in a tremendous way even if I didn't love all those matches. His defenses with the title so far have ranged from good to off-the-wall great, telling a story that may or may not be something I've conveniently crafted for my own purposes after watching the Yehi matches. And hey, those two Yehi matches in NOVA Pro fucking rule, go watch 'em. Per usual, the Octopus has a number of quiet little bangers on smaller indies, a few standouts in Beyond tagging with an old friend and facing off against his S/O, and he actually managed to be the only thing I enjoyed about ROH this year. Sure, that last bit doesn't mean a whole lot but it also doesn't mean that he was bad. Far from it.

I actually wish I knew what Gresham ROH matches to track down. I've seen maybe three or four, and liked all of them, but it's really hard to justify him as a top ten contender at that point without a deeper resume, as I think he lacks the absolute high end stuff of guys like WALTER, Riddle, Regins, et. or the ultra consistent depth of a Yehi. I could be wrong about the second point mind you, but I could probably name 15-20 Yehi matches that I thought were in the very good to great range with little effort, and I'm not sure I could name 10 for Gresham even though I'm positive he has the skills to have them (and probably HAS had them). I will say that I really enjoyed the Gage match a lot, the Dutt match at NOVA was really damn good until bad luck intervened in the form of an ill timed Sonjay injury, and I thought the Tracy Williams match from the last Beyond show of the year was absolutely excellent and a tremendous way for Gresham to close out his 2017. Also I am very high on the finals of the Powerbomb.tv tourney v. Joey Lynch, so he's got at least 4 matches I'd safely rate in the great range.

Think I have come to terms that I like Gresham more in theory than actuality. That means I still think he is real darn good, dude with a high floor, but also someone I am not sure I have seen deliver a true MOTYC this year. Do want to go back and watch the Lynch match as live it was tremendous but want to see how it comes off on video. Comfortable top 50 guy, probably top 25, but hoping I find that match which gets into that second level.
