I figured this would be a bit of a down year for him with the Pete Dunne feud over, but he's managed to work his way up to 9th at the moment. All 3 of the BSS/Mustache Mountain vs. Undisputed Era matches ruled, which has really shot him up my list, but his singles stuff against people not named Pete Dunne has gotten way better too. His highlights include matches against Kassius Ohno from SSS16 weekend, vs. Zack Sabre Jr at Chapter 63, and against TJP from the 205 Live tournament.

All the BSS/MM stuff this year has been a hit with me. His singles stuff has been a mixed bag, but I loved the Walter match and it's likely going to be in consideration for one of my top matches of the year come year's end. Likely will land right above or below the 20 spot as of now.

Bate has an incredibly similar singles resume to Pete Dunne this year, and frankly, the big separation point between the two of them within the top 15-20 is going to be the Mustache Mountain tag stuff. Bate benefits from having a more varied Indy singles resume than Dunne because of the UK title stuff (seemingly). The fact that the Bate/WALTER match was also way better than the relatively disappointing Dunne/Dragunov match only furthers Bate's cause. That and the Sekimoto singles match from FCP stand out as his two best singles contests from the second half of the year. I also may be the one person on planet earth that thought the third Undisputed Era match was better than the second but even then only marginally, and that mostly comes from Bate's performances in both (not to take too much away from Seven on MM's end).

I've got Bate in the top 10. One of my favorites at the moment.
I was afraid coming into the year that he couldn't replicate the magic of his 2017 because he felt so unique and like a natural ascension into the spotlight but he's benefitted from working with some amazing wrestlers and being able to one-up them. The MM/UE series of matches put him over the top for me, but he's also had good-to-great matches with everyone from Kassius Ohno to Roderick Strong, Velveteen Dream, Mark Haskins and Zack Sabre Jr. Infectious wrestler who wows with just how much he can do in the ring.
