The tough deal with Almas is that I firmly, without doubt believe he's the best wrestler alive. I watch him and he's just better than everyone else. But for an exercise like this, which to some degree leans on volume and how many great matches you had, he falls a bit short because he hasn't had as many matches as other guys. I think his resume is starting to grow though and come around. The Gargano match is simply the best match I've ever seen and he's on another level in it, the Gargano match on NXT TV is excellent, and the Black match at TakeOver: New Orleans is one of the best world title matches of the year. On Smackdown, he's had a nice mini-series with Sin Cara which produced some good matches, a great TV match with AJ, and now another quality mini-series with Bryan. He's building enough to easily wind up in my Top 20 I think, but I can't rule out I rank him #1 because I simply think he's the best.

The Gargano match is one of the greatest matches ever, so Almas is making it pretty high on my list. I get that the quantity is not there with Almas, but I had him at #7 last year so I can clearly overlook that.

It's been a tale of two years. His NXT work this year was insanely good and his match with Gargano in Philly remains my MOTY. Much like his early NXT run, entered a dead zone early on in SDL, but has since had some fun stuff with Rusev, AJ and Bryan. How much I weight his phenomenal first four months versus the rest of the year will probably tell the tale of where he ends up. Top 50? For sure. Top 25? Maybe.

Not having much to do on SDL may bump him out of the top 10 for me, but his phenomenal first quarter and the fact that none of his matches on SDL have been bad (as few as they've been) keeps him as an easy lock for the top 12-15.
