One of the five or six guys that I see locally that really only makes tape in a couple of places. Of those guys, he's probably going to be the one that ends up finishing the highest for me on the ballot, though I don't exactly know where because of the volume issue. His singles stuff has been really good this year in C*4 partly because he's one of the pillars and gets matched up against people he's either worked with plenty in the past (Uno for much of the first half of the year) or attractions coming up from the states. He just had a match last night with Matt Angel, who I am inordinately high on, that should go up on Powerbomb within the next week or so that to me is his best singles match of the year.
The SSB/Bucks match from the War of the Worlds probably helped him and Uno get a little more footing on possible dates going forward outside the Ottawa/Montreal/Eastern Canada indy circuit (Uno did have a match in OTT in July) but that may not end up happening until the start of next year if at all and instead his last couple of months might be him contained to this region. He's got a match with David Starr in two weeks that I'm assuming is going to make tape and if it does it should only help further his cause.

PROMOTION | SHOW | SHOW DATE | MATCH | NOTES | RATING |
ROH | War of the Worlds (Toronto) | 2018/05/11 | Young Bucks vs SSB | The match that most people have probably seen if any from Stu's year so far. Stu and Uno are perfect foils for the Bucks and are able to keep up with them really well. It is still very much a Bucks match so if that style puts you off I can very much see someone not taking to it. | 4 |
C*4 | Animal House | 2018/10/02 | Matt Angel vs Stu Grayson | An awesome match in a non-traditional venue for C*4. Very much a classic Veteran vs Up and Comer type formula with Stu taking much of the offense. The limb selling towards the end it paid off well in the end and while Angel held his own, this was quite clearly a match where the best of Stu shone through. Would recommend watching a little bit of the build coming in with a match a little further down the list. Not exactly a heel performance from Stu given crowd response but he fits the veteran dickhead role really well. (Will be out relatively soon on powerbomb AFAIK.) | 4 |
SMASH | Super Showdown VI | 2018/08/26 | Mike Rollins and Pepper Parks vs Evil Uno and Stu Grayson | An example of where Stu can shine as a heel as well. It helps that he's with Uno and that this match is built around plunder but it really works for everyone involved. Look through SMASH to find the only place where Stu consistently works heel to help round out his case for a top 100. | 3 1/2 |
C*4 | The Beyond | 2018/09/14 | Kobe Durst vs Stu Grayson vs Matt Angel | Good little match that features 3 of the 5 best guys in the region. For the promotion's title but mostly concerned with developing the feud between Grayson and Angel. Kobe is good as just a giant dickhead and Stu's performance as the middleman helps the story along quite nicely. Suffered a little bit from placement on the card and could've gone a little longer. | 3 1/2 |
C*4 | End of Days | 2018/04/14 | Mathieu St. Jacques, Thomas Dubois, Stu Grayson, and Matt Angel vs Twiggy, Evil Uno, FTM, and Kobe Durst | Just a really fun plunder match to pay tribute to the venue that the company had been at for a VERY long time before moving in May. Stu shines both bumping and in doing some crazy shit along with Matt and Kobe. The ending is full blown fan service for the longtime devotees so don't go into this one for seriousness. | 4 |
C*4 | Point Break | 2018/06/29 | Stu Grayson vs Evil Uno | Blow off match between the two stalwarts of the C*4 roster and former tag partners. Break up angle that had been going on for a while finally blown off but it probably isn't the end for these two. Nothing special as a blow off, in fact, a little disappointing, but it is something that I'll rewatch to see if I missed anything. | 3 1/2 |
SMASH | Episode 37 | 2018/03/29 | SSB vs Fight or Flight | Nothing overly special just a really good use of bigger heels vs smaller babyfaces. Fight or Flight will be an interesting team to watch in 2019 if they get more on tape. | 3 |
