"Given up on" is probably too harsh a way to describe how Goto has been booked over the last year, but certainly, he's been diminished. Despite that, I did enjoy his Wrestle Kingdom match with Suzuki and he had a couple highlights during the G1. I can't say there's very much else from his Never title reign that sticks out and I can't imagine I'll be actively looking forward to a feud with Taiichi. Right now, he's in my top 50, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop into the second half of my list.

Have Goto at 82 right now mainly due to a strong G1. For as far as this year goes I'm not sure Goto is going to do much outside of multiman tag matches, so the best case scenario for him is that the absolute clusterfuck behind him on my list stays quiet and he squeaks out a spot in the 80s or 90s

2018 was definitely a step up compared to 2017 for Goto, but I felt it was still a rather typical year for him: a handful of great performances with the rest ranging from solid to skippable. His NEVER title runs were fairly good but there were a fair amount of duds (Elgin, Taichi, EVIL, although those matches weren't entirely his fault either). And while his G1 run had some very good matches, it felt like one of the lesser runs in the B Block. I've always felt Goto excelled more as a chronic choke artist who needed to prove to everyone he's not a loser as opposed to a hard-hitting badass. Still, his number of legitimately impressive high-end matches (Suzuki, Kenny, Ishii, Juice 2x) will probably be enough for a spot in the lower half.
