The Kenoh title matches were good, great even. The Kotoge match had its moments before it dissolved into an ugly display of shoot headbutts. He hits hard and has a certain swagger about him. And yet for all the talk that he was the best in the world I was convinced he was overrated. But the more I've watched of Sugiura's run this year the harder it's been to deny: he is currently one of the best wrestlers in the world. It's easy to point to his string of very good to great GHC title matches against Kenoh, Shiozaki, Kitamiya, and most recently Nakajima. But his tag work has been just as strong. He complimented the firey, pissed-off younger Kenoh perfectly as the aging bruiser who has no time for anyone's shit. And while practically every wrestler in the world today throws a forearm, no one does it better than Sugiura. It looks like he's legitimately trying to knock his opponent out with a barrage of strikes rather than just soften them up for a bigger move. I still probably wouldn't give him the top spot on my list but his greatness is without question.
