A decade long overnight success. "Success" is relative as he more or less hit "liked by folks that would have posted on WKO" status. This tall lanky grappler who was trained by Dory Funk and wrestles as you expect. In a generation where wrestlers more and more come out looking like finished products, it is WILD that someone who has been wrestling for as long as him, still doesn't feel like he has all the edges sanded off. At times he can be clunky and can look out of position. But when he's hitting on all cylinders, either doing some sort of wonky throw or smashing his shoulder under someone's chin, he looks like a beast.
Obviously, you should watch the Gary Jay matches from SLA. Both include a spot of the year contender which is impressive. I love the Jeremy Wyatt match as well. Both have him "fighting up", earning his spot in the pecking order. I still haven't watched the Eddie Kingston match that's on YouTube but by all accounts its great and sort of the match that put him on the radar of a certain type of fan.
It seems like he'll get even more opportunities in 2020. He's been wrestling for some time and I'm happy we are finally about to see what his ceiling might be.
